DP works there so was able to get on a one day visitors pass. I've looked on the site and it says 3 month free membership, but DP says this is bollocks. My gym (The Gym Group) is shite and I love the DL gym, but apparently it's upwards of £80 a month. I want to use the gym & swim, not anything else and I think £80 is crap when DP doesn't have to pay. It was ace in there. Does anyone just pay for gym & swim? no free towels crap or anything, just that.
help a girl out who wants a nice bod Sad

Yes, it's £80 a month here PLUS you have to pay extra for crèche. Not a chance I was going to join at that price. I think a lot of the people here like the social aspect and kids classes etc. great if you use it all but bloody expensive otherwise.

It is lovely and very sociable. We moved and nearest is too far, alternative much cheaper, but not a patch on DL.

Look around lots of smaller run gyms have much better Equipment. The one I use now is more expensive than DL no pool ect but is out of this world kit wise :) as a client thier though its worth every penny because its a clients only gym. Gyms I have used in the past have been bodybuilder ones all with better kit the the gym group ones that are cheap as chips and so friendly :)

It was so much easier and more fun to get a workout done at DL. There's TVs in the treadmills fgs! And no DC so don't need creche. On the website they say they can tailor your membership, at every single one apart from Leeds. If me and DP were on a better wage I'd get on a joint pass... For now I'll stick to The Gym Group. DL is way too expensive for me atm... :(

I am paying £24 per month for a gym and swim membership with the Kinetika group. We have a massive pool, sauna, jacuzzi, training pools, and a fab gym with tv in front of threadmills/cross trainers, and lots of classes such as zumba and yoga and ab attack, etc.

It is expensive yes :( we used to all belong but it got out of hand so now only dh is a member and uses his free monthly passes for me to go in when I fancy it! He actually only pays £64 a month for off peak (I say 'only!)

QS i'm going to google that. I'm in Leeds so I do need a place with gym/swim :)
biggles It rolls off the tongue doesn't it? Grin see DP doesn't have a membership, he just works there so I can't get on member passes I don't think! and I work so it must be peak times, I ain't paying £80!!!

I was paying £90 a month for a nice gym. I loved it there, everything was so nice, and clean, and modern. Free towels, molton brown toiletries, etc. Money dropped though and I had to move to the council one. It's manky compared to the posh one, and very basic, but I was mainly doing the classes which I can still get at the council gym, so really paying the extra £60 was absurd.

though I will be back to Virgin in a shot if money gets itself sorted!!

Look at it as being 80 per couple.

his is free so you both pay a total of 80

With a gym you do get what you pay for

We were with DL but got pissed off with the annual price increases. Moved to Virgin Active. Cheaper but facilities as good. Much happier.

Our local authority gym is pretty flash, it has TV's for the treadmills, TRX, loads of classes and a pool. No towels but I never shower there anyway. I pay a tiddly £32 a month, frozen for life. But I think that new sign ups are £45.
