Plantar fasciitis - foot pain - advice please!

Hi all,

I started jogging to train for a 5k Race to Life. Sadly I now have plantar fasciitis (pain in the heel/sole of my right foot, worse in the mornings) :(

I have proper running shoes and did stretch before and after jogging, but obviously not enough! Since my foot started hurting, I've been resting but the pain isn't going away. I've been trying gentle stretches and rolling a bottle of frozen water under my foot (not pleasant but it does seem to help). I've just bought an FS6 compression foot sleeve and insoles (Orthaheel Gel Heel Pain Reliever) to see if they will help.

Does anyone else have other tips?

The race is in 3 weeks (on 20th July) and I'm worried I won't be able to do it :( I've already told all my family, friends and colleagues I'm doing it, and have several donations, so I'd be gutted not to do it! Any advice welcome...

Many thanks,
Emma

If you do have plantar fasciitis I think it highly unlikely that you will be over it before the race. You may need some heavy inflammatories / pain killers but you may harm your foot further.

I has this and likewise lasted months. The only shoes that helped where fit flops, I even bought the boots for winter as it hadn't gone away
