How to tone/shape up quickly?

rubbishfamily333 · 08/09/2013 10:18

I'm feeling very wobbly at the moment, I want to do something about it ASAP!

What exercise classes are the most effective?

I once did the 30day shred by jillian Michaels and within 11 days and noticed a massive difference in body tone and lost a couple of inches! Are there any classes that will have a similar effect? I don't want to do the shred at the moment as I'm not feeling motivated enough to work out at home and don't have the space right now.

I'm thinking about maybe bootcamp? And circuits? I feel like I need to blast my belly flat Wink

I prefer classes like Zumba and body pump but I want fast results Grin

30 day shred is great. Also fitness blender on you tube.

Thank you for the reply, I was looking for gym classes instead of home DVDs as I don't have the space right how and also feel I need the class motivation Wink

I did the 30 ds and it was exactly that. I've since created my own routine that I keep up regularly to maintain. I don't know about classes. Can you just return to 30 ds?

Well at the moment I am staying at my mums do I dont have the space to do it. And also I loose motivation very quickly so that's why I thought classes would be better!

No space? Not even on a GYM mat in the kitchen?

Come and read some of the shred threads, they have been a fabulous motivation for lots of us

Did I mention I'm fat, on the wrong side of 45 and just finished day 10 of L3?

I'm not buying the no space excuse either.

I can do HIIT the ground running in my bedroom. I do have to throw everything on the bed while I do it though to make room! But that is an excellent work out that a prisoner could do in his/her cell.

The reason I say I have no space is because I'm at my mums at the moment, I should be in my new flat in about two weeks so can start then. I guess the truth is I have no personal space right now and can't exactly start doing my DVD infrount of my mum and her partner when they want to watch the tv Grin

Kitchen. .?

Garage?

Go to a friends place and do it together?

Still hearing excuses ;)

Well it may be excuses because I have tried it a few times before and never kept it up! And I think the fact that I have a gym membership and a built in babysitter that I might as well make use of that right now Grin

I'm at my m&&d's this weekend and I just did a routine in my old bedroom 11x11 while they went to church!! I had to do it while they were at church or they'd make digs about the ceiling coming down. so I do understand. Good luck!

Classes at the gym are great and really motivating, but obviously take up a lot more of your time than the shred - bodypump is pretty good for shaping up, but it depends on what else is available at your gym. My gym do TRX classes which are very good, or any class with a lot of cardio should help with weight loss (so something like body attack or maybe Zumba)

yes, if you can afford a gym and you want to do that, go for it! I would love circuit classes myself. And swimming is great for the waist.

Hazelnutlatte that's I feel, I can do a 33 minute work out on my lap top, throw in five minutes for a shower, two minutes to throw on your clothes and you're done. double that length of time to get the same benefit from the gym, maybe triple it.

Does your gym run circuit classes using all the Functional equipment? I love this!

Also kettlercise is supposed to transform your body pretty quick, I started a class at the gym on Saturday and nearly vomitted twice!

I think you need a whole extra level of motivation to put a DVD on, I need to have a class booked for a certain time and get out the door. Every time I've started the shred I keep forgetting!

Yes I class does circuits, I'm thinking circuits and body bootcamp I think it's meant to be tough, but the trainer is very motivating which for me is very important.

And that is exactly my problem with shred I just stop too quickly.

What is kertlecise? We have a kettle bell class is that it? I have tried it twice and will try it again

Kettlercise is just a brand name I think but the class consists of a non stop workout going from one move to the next. It's exhausting but brilliant and burns about 650 cals in 5mins and has an afterburn effect like metafit.

If you are a member of hte gym, speak to them, ask which of their classes they recommend! Force yourself to go a couple of nights a week at least if your mum is happy to babysit. If there's no class you want do to at the times your mum can cover, then just go work out for half an hour and do something. good luck!

I would go with the classes option if you can because as much as I really love the Jillian Michaels DVD's I find I lose motivation very very fast, a cuppa calls, the ironing needs done, I feel crappy, the sun's shining! See any excuse to avoid doing anything.
Started doing classes this time last year and everyone is so wonderful and motivating that I don't think twice about going.
I was squashing myself into a size 18 last august and I have just bought 2 pairs of size 12 jeans the other week, weight loss has been consistant (3st 10lb so far) and I have built a fair amount of muscle which I adore Grin.
The big boy weights section is my new goal!

Woohoo McPie are we twins? I've lost about the same in the same timeframe and I'm mad keen to start proper lifting too!

Grin KatoPotato looks that way! I am really lucky as I have my Boxfit instructor taking me under his wings for the big weights and he knows how hard I am willing/able to work.
I also found that when I was doing the DVD's it always had to go hand in hand with food restriction (diet in other words) and I would start to feel run down whith in the first month.
It was only when the nurse gave me the Counterweight plan that I started to lose weight and have enough energy to fuel my workouts, I now do 13 1/2 hours of classes plus runs in the gym each week and do not feel hungry very often or guilty if I eat off plan Smile.
