Tell me what earphones you wear running cos none of mine stay in!

Listening to music really helps my running but I seem tospend half my time trying to keep my earphones in. Can anyone recommend a good pair which stay in? Not too expensive! I want to buy some before the park run on Saturday. Thanks!

C'mon runners! I can't be the only one with small bastard ears? If no one replies I will have to start wearing them headphones that I used to use with my Walkman in the 80's. you wouldn't wish that on me would you??

I wear Sony Fontopia in ear ones. They are the ones that come with three sizes of rubbery bit. However the Sony ones that came with my phone do fall out . I think it's a bit of trial and error I'm afraid.

When you do find some that work make sure you buy a couple of pairs in case they change/discontinue the design.

I don't run but I think I have weird shaped ear canals as I can never keep ear buds in, and they hurt like mad quite quickly too. The ones that work best for me are the ones with the over-ear loop. The best pair I ever had had a hook that you draw forward with your finger, then loop over the ear and release the hook. It held on nice and tight without digging in.

Would ones that go over the head and sit on your ears not be better? I can't get them to stay in either and pinch the sons to use when working.

I have just got some from Amazon with a head band that sits at the back of your head and the earphones sort of hook round your ears. It's been a revelation! Before that I didn't bother with music because I was so sick of holding earphones in my ears . I can't link because I'm on my phone but if you search for running headphones they should come up. I can't remember the name but dh has some (expensive) sennheiser ones.

Someone at my park run has massive beats over head ones. All the rage now apparently according to ds.

Terrible I saw some loop ones but just couldn't work out how the hell they would hook into my ear.

I need to find some before Saturday, there's nothing like a bit of 'dont stop me now' to give a boost when you feel like you absolutely cannot run another step.

Oh, I know I'm going to be accused of being miserable old cow, but please don't run with earphones.

If you can't hear properly, you're not aware of traffic, animals, bikes, other runners or potential attackers around you.

And I know you all think your music is quiet enough that you are aware, but really you're not

International I agree with you. My friend was attached whilst running and listening to her iPod. I actually only run on the treadmill or the park run which is very safe on a sat morning with hundreds of other runners. I don't think I would listen to loud music if I was out running on my own.

You can't do parkrun with earphones in! You are in a park, with lots of lovely people you need to talk to/say thank you to and listen out for dog walkers, runners coming up behind you, people on bikes ... and all the lovely wildlife that lives in a park!

Obviously I don't run with earphones in but I have friends who use tiny bits of tape (like surgical tape or sticky plaster) to stick ear phones in his very oddly shaped ears ... might be worth a try if you reeeeeeally can't run without music. Have a go without music, listen to yourself breathing, the birds, people around you and the like. It is very peaceful and can really help with pacing - and it is nice to hear all the volunteers cheering you on!

I run on the beach so listen to the wind and waves - but I need to hear the damn App telling me when to run and walk. I ended up just keeping one headphone in as a compromise.

I run with earphones I have a buff over the top, like a sweat band, keeps them in.

Beats are crap. For the same or less money you need anything from Bowers and Wilkins. Their other speakers are so much better than Bose too, if you're looking to dock an iProduct :)

DH uses Adidas Sennheiser in-ear headphones (connected to an iPhone) and he runs almost every day. The weird 'shark fin' design works to keep the phones in place.

The neckband keeps them really firmly in place, and the open design means I can still hear what's going on around me. Also cheap enough that I don't care too much about them getting damaged.

I use ones called marshmallows from Currys. They're squishy. They never fall out.

Ooo I had exactly this problem until I pinched my dd's ones. They're jvc ones, quite rubbery over the ear ones, with ear buds that you can change the rubbery bits on, iyswim. I put on the teeny ones and they're fab. And they're lime green so harder for me to lose.

I use Sennheiser ones, you pay a bit more but they are quality. You need the ones with ear buds.
