Just completed my first round of 30DS and about to go for round 2.

Hoping I can start following Natalie a bit more this time, rather than fixedly not taking my eyes off Anita! Grin

Hello Noel! You're up bright and early. OK, so it isn't August yet but I'll sign on here as I'm also about to start my second time round.

For those wondering whether to try it - it really does make a difference in only 20 minutes a day. I feel considerably fitter and stronger than I did six weeks ago and - in combination with 5:2 - I've lost half a stone.

I was doing 5 days a week. If you do it six days a week you'll be done in 5 weeks. If you do it every day you're a bit mad you'll be done within the month.

The DVD is only a fiver from Amazon, but if you want to get an idea of what's involved, the first two levels are available on YouTube I think.

I will start with you. Have DVD already.

Hello Sunny - welcome aboard. Have you got some weights/tins of beans/bottles of water?

Morning Grimma just noticed you're here!
(Had to abandon mid post due to naughty pup)

Hello Sunny I'll be continuing from last thread, I'm on L3 but once finished, I'll be going again like Noel and Grimma

OK - L1D1 second time around done.

Used slightly bigger weights on the first set of some of the moves, and all the bicep curls. Still can't do even Anita pushups properly of course but the rest was pretty much Natalie.

Right - count me in. The amount of times I have started this and then give up halfway through is ridiculous. Added to the fact that I seem to be ballooning I realllly need to stick to 30DS.

Going to do L1D1 today

Hello - can I join in please? Smile I'm definitely a 'previously-gave-up-but-trying-againer'... I've lost count of the number of times I've started the 30DS but have never finished it. I've spent the past few days reading through the July thread when I was supposed to be working and am feeling inspired by your stories. I did L1D1 yesterday (at 6am!) but couldn't face getting up early this morning so will do D2 after work tonight. I'm a bit sore today but determined not to let that stop me this time!

I have tried it once before (2 year ago) did it for 2 days! Does that qualify as a previously gave upper? I am also doing couch to c25k and did a jog last night. Bit sore today, so will rest and start the shred tomorrow.

Does anyone else do other exercise along with this? If so, do you have a day/days of rest a week with no exercise?

Welcome all!

Here's a few more tips.

Weights - try to use whatever allows you to complete the reps with good form. I had some already, but other people recommend a set from Argos. Or the bean cans/water bottles at least to start with.

If you're not doing it on carpet, use a mat - I think people use yoga mats, camping mats, whatever they have.

The other essential for most women is a good sports bra!

Footwear - its best to wear trainers, more stability in the lunges etc but I had to do most of it barefoot after hurting a toe (doing something else) and that was doable too.

The first 3-4 days are by far the worst - hang in past that and it will get better, honestly. Do the quad stretches supporting yourself with one hand on some furniture, you'll be able to do a much better stretch which you really do need esp on L1.

Good luck. Smile

Hi folks, please may I join too? Saw shred recommended on here and giving it ago to try to sort out post miscarriage bump :o(

I'm currently on day 7 and today tried L2 as was finding L1 fairly easy after the first 4 days. But OMG level 2 is sooooo much harder!

May admit defeat and go back to L1 tomorrow!

Hi Sugar, welcome aboard. Its fine to stay on a level as long as you want. Or to switch back and forwards. Do what suits your body - just so long as you do it! Smile

I'm in, getting frustrated with my body so going to shred 4-6 times a week (depending on work schedule) with 3-4 power yoga sessions and 3 days running (restarted recently)

I was pretty fit but fractured my spine in a riding accident 12 or so weeks ago, recently got the all clear to do 'normal' activities so also going to be riding 2-3 times a week.

Sounds busy but I suffer from depression/anxiety and if I 'sit around' too much I make things worse for myself - and want to stay off ads this year.

Also 4:3 rather than 5:2 again - stopped with the fracture as I have over 2 stone to lose plus post baby belly flab to lose.

Looks like I will be a busy bee over the next 30 days! I also have a 'mini' workout I do every day cos it only takes 10 mins and works all the areas I need (mainly abs) so I'm hoping my body will change rather rapidly as I am completely changing habits.

GrimmaTheNome · 31/07/2013 12:19

Wow, Serotonin, you're really going for it! The shred alone gives some pretty quick results so you certainly should see some changes!

Report
trickydickie · 31/07/2013 12:26

Noelheadbands - I have just finished week 6 of c25k. Are you going to shred the same days as you do c25k or everyday?

Serotonin- wow that is loads.

glenthebattleostrich · 31/07/2013 12:33

Can I join in? I've started 3 times and never get past day 3. I'm going to do it 4 - 5 times a week, I need to loose about 8lb by the 1st weekend in September. I already do slimming world and tend to loose about 1lb per week, so need to be super good :)

I'm also doing the 30 day squat challenge so will do one on a morning and 1 on an evening

SerotoninCanEatTomorrow · 31/07/2013 12:33

I hope I can do it all, setting goals is really important to me (I make a lot of lists) and the bonus of my workouts is they cost me nothing and can do them whenever I like (no easy opportunities for childcare)

I'll join. I tried the shred once, and it was so hard, but I gave up too soon. I got on the scales this morning and it was very depressing, I need to lose 2 stone. So I'm in, and I'm going to try to stick at it this time!
