Hi all,

this will be my second race, I did my first 5k a week ago shock

I'm hoping to beat my time of 31.15 when I do the race for life on the 19th May, I know thats a slow time but as I'm not that experienced yet I was pretty chuffed with that! grin
I'll be aiming for under 30 mins this time.

Doing the 10k one at Clumber but probably run/walking with my DD rather than running as she hasn't even thought about training for it grin

CockyFox Fri 03-May-13 14:41:54

Mine is in June. I just want to be able to get round. I am on week one of couch to 5k and even the 60 second run hurts so so much.

HeySoulSister Fri 03-May-13 16:17:08

mine is june too....i'm running in a team. just training dd up for it now, she's on week 2 of c25k

my 5k time is rubbish tho....36 min!! so I'm attending running club to get it down a bit

Me and a team are doing it in July at Blackheath but it's more of a Stroll for Life eating Ice cream whilst raising some money !

Brideandgloom Fri 03-May-13 20:17:10

I love the sound of a stroll for life! grin

bollockstoit Fri 03-May-13 20:21:40

Mine's the end of june. Will be lucky to get under 35 mins tbh.

I'm entering the 5K at the end of June - would do the 10k, but it's in the afternoon when it will be too warm for me to run, so opted for the 5k instead.

I'm really looking forward to it - should be good fun!

dementedma Sun 05-May-13 10:15:54

Mine is in June. This will be my 8th one! Managed 32 mins one year but last few years its just about getting round in about 40. Am on w4r2 of C25K and struggling but I'll get there.

HeySoulSister Sun 05-May-13 20:37:53

Anyone else?

ladydepp Tue 07-May-13 13:08:11

I am doing one in June, Battersea Park London. My first one! I had a goal to jog slowly run the whole way but a cold plus hayfever is throwing my "training" into disarray!

My last C25K was W5D2 and had an 8 minute run which almost killed me. No idea how I will manage to run for 30 minutes plus hmm.

I haven't done anything about fundraising yet, I hate asking people for money. What have some of you done? Any tips on how to ask nicely but assertively??

Mine is in June, hoping to do it in under 30mins. For fundraising I asked everyone to give to justgiving instead of birthday cards/drinks/presents as the race happens to be on my birthday!

Brideandgloom Sat 18-May-13 21:17:40

Oh good lord so it's tomorrow and I haven't run all week! Wish me luck ladies, I will check in with my time tomorrow lunchtime if I have actually managed to finish! shock

Brideandgloom Sun 19-May-13 21:23:36

Just thought I would check in with my time.

I managed 30mins and 1 sec. Bit gutted I didn't break the 30 minute barrier but had a brilliant time. It was hugely inspiring to see so many women coming together with a common goal.

PuppyMummy Sun 19-May-13 22:25:13

well done bride
I'm doing 10k at end of June.

did it last yr in 55min 25sec so wanting to beat that time this yr.

HeySoulSister Mon 20-May-13 17:54:03

Hi all, just an update. Did 10k race for life today at Temple Newsam.

Really pleased as I did it in 53mins 5secs, beating last years time!

Good luck to those still to run this month.

slightlysoupstained Sat 22-Jun-13 14:15:50

Um. Am doing 5k next weekend. I've left it a bit late to train, haven't I?

I managed 53:13. Note to self - do not give blood the week before!

CMOTDibbler Tue 25-Jun-13 10:21:24

I'm doing the 10k at Cheltenham on July 7th. Only decided to do it last week, but feeling good about it after running 10k for the first time yesterday. Hoping to speed up a bit now

Good luck CMOTDibbler

I have to - my three dd want to do it, and need an adult registered with them. DD1 is aiming for around the 20 minutes (she's 12) while DD2 will try for around 22 minutes (she's 9). This is, of course, unashamed and completely unstealthy boasting.

In the meantime DD3 and I will potter round, stopping for drinks and chocolate biscuits.
