Is anyone a member at a PureGym?

There is a PureGym opening in my town in a few weeks time and I am thinking about joining.
They have an opening offer of 10.99 per month and no contract so I could cancel after the first month if it was no good.
I have been on their website and it looks nice, basic but nice. It says they have over 40 fitness classes per week. If I went twice a week that works out to less than £2 per class, which can't be bad.

So are any MNers PureGym members? Is it any good, or is it too good to be true?

Im a member of PureGym in London, have been since it opened before Christmas and DD signed up a few weeks ago. I would say ours is better than basic, lots of machines, cardio and weights, meaning you never have to wait for anything, loads of advice leaflets around and you get emails with tips etc. Loads of classes, very friendly, very clean Grin I guess if you want steam rooms, saunas and spas its not for you but if its exercise then its great value for money.

Go for it.

Thanks Dreams, that's good to know. I'm not fussed about fluffy towels and swimming pools etc. I swim at the council pool quite happily and I don't think it's been fitted out since about 1975!
As long as its clean and the equipment is well maintained and the classes run then I will be happy.

Fab. Excellent equipment. Great classes. Showers are hot. Changing rooms super clean.

What more can you want?

It's only 10.99 for the first year, then it goes up to 18.99 and from what I can understand they guarantee no price rises after that. Less than £30 per month for gym in London is still pretty good value compared with David Lloyd etc, no?

Yes, it is cheap for London, and I like the no contract. Been this morning and killed myself, hate going but once Im there....... Anyway, I think theyre good competition for the more pouncy ones, I only want to lose weight and tone up, if I want to swim Ill pop to the pool, if I want to sauna and steam Ill do a bit of housework Grin

I joined our local one in London when it opened in March - £12.99 for the first year, going up to £22.99 thereafter and I love it. Loads and loads of machines, plenty of classes and it's clean. I love that the weights room has so much equipment - at my Virgin gym (£95 per month) they had two benches - at puregym they have 8!

I'm a huge spinning fan and one of the things I love about it is the virtual spinning - I don't have to conform to a class timetable, just go along when I fancy it, hope nobody got there first, and put a program on the big screen. It's absolutely brilliant!

I just had to send them a letter because they ignored my email to cancel member ship an took £23 and tell me its my fault for not cancelling the D.D - when I emailed to ask 2 weeks in advance and was ignored. Then 4 emails later still everyone is acting like they have a specific line to respond with or are bad A.I because nothing is a direct response - always deflecting or totally off point. I liked the GYM. I am totally dissatisfied to the point I am posting this on forums to let people know.
