Possibly doing first parkrun tomorrow

I've been running about 4 weeks. Done 3 miles twice this week, in about 33 mins, jogging all the way. I'm thinking about doing my local parkrun tomorrow. I'm scared though. The forecast is for rain, so I'm guessing there will be less people than usual? Turnout is normally around 150-250 I think. Are the less serious runners likely to give it a miss in bad weather? I would be mortified if I came in last.

Oh good luck! I've never been to one so can't offer much advice, just admiration :)

How did it go? I bet you didn't come in last, I know some people that have taken 40-45 mins to do it. It's all about beating your PB rather than other runners.

My local one is starting next month, I can't wait. They are meant to be really good fun and welcoming to any level of runner.

Thanks for asking! I went. The weather was hideous, chucking it down and very very windy. But, I did it! 34 mins and I ran all the way. I wasn't last, but wasn't far off, I think the horrible weather kept a lot of people away. It was an amazing feeling crossing the finish line, it's the furthest and fastest I've ever run. I think I might be hooked!

Brilliant, glad you enjoyed it- and a PB too!

I know what you mean about the weather, I tried to do W9R3 of C25K this morning and gave up after not even 1k, it was so windy I couldn't even draw breath.

Well done, its just getting started really. Once you go, that's it. There's no going back now Grin

I helped at our Parkrun today and it was really good. Ive only ran 4 times on it though, but plan to do more once the weather improves.

Well done! There were about 100 people less than usual at my park run yesterday, and yes, it was mostly the slower people who stayed away. I think it's a great thing to get addicted to.
