If a single parent was working full time with minimal support from family, how would they organise childcare? Childminder? kids clubs?

Hi,

I was a single parent for 7 years, working full-time, and although I had supportive family my mother was also working full time.

Over the years I did everything - Nanny(share), childminder, nursery, au pair, kids clubs and a combination of those too!

It depends on the age of your children, your working hours etc. I found an au pair to be really good once they were at school - as they were around to help with the morning routine, and around again after school - without being hideously expensive. One of our au-pairs is now a close family friend, and some 5 years after she left us, she still comes over for the weekend, and spends some time at Christmas with us etc.

How old are your children?
