Bit of a long shot really, but DH has been asked to apply for a job on the "Lead Professional" scale.
He is currently hourly paid and as he does a lot of overtime, earns a very nice living thank you very much Also, as he works only 10mins bike ride from home and he starts very early in the morning, his long hours don't impact that much on family time.
The new job would be salaried and whilst he thinks it would be a large pay rise on his basic wage, he expects his take home pay to be less than now, as he will lose his overtime money. Now money's not everything etc, but it is a consideration. Also, the new job is c. 30 miles from home, so we would need to run an extra car.
It sounds like an interesting job and he can see he needs to make the move to achieve any future progression, but is reluctant to take a large pay cut at the same time as his travel costs increasing considerably.
Does anyone have any idea what kind of salary he should expect to be offered for this type of role? Is there any chance that a car may be part of the package? Obviously he will find out if he proceeds, but he would like to be prepared for the likely negotiation.
