Should I go for it for a 3 month job?

I'm currently a single parent claiming income support.

My children are both in full time school.

I am due to sign up with an employment agency tomorow...they also have a 3 month job lined up for me which sounds pretty much ideal.

I'm worried though that starting work this close to christmas will mess all my money up at a time when I need it the most. Plus, when it ends in 3 months I'll have all the faffing around going back on income support again.

She did say there is a chance it could turn permanant but what if it doesnt?

Is it worth the messing around or should I just wait until after christmas?

No advice as such but,

is it a job you would LOVE to do?

will it pay enough to see you over christmas and while you sort out benefits again if you need to? Do the benefits agency pay to help you get back to work? will you be better off? (my BF has been told by BA she is better off not working.)

is the agency one which might have another job at the end of the three months if it doesn't become permanent?

It's worth trying to find out WHY it's three months.

If it's just a glorified probationary period then, if you do well, there's a good chance it will be extended.

If it is for some other reason (e.g. there is a specific project, or only enough funding in place for three months) I would have said that there's a higher risk.
