Work

Is there any such thing as this?

After working for a company for a year is it reasonable to ask for some kind of review, sit-in with my manager? Just really to make sure they are happy with my work, discuss anything that might be niggling either of us that perhaps wouldn't be seen as a big enough problem to make a fuss about on a day to day basis or whatever. Would it also be reasonable to request the outcome in writing?

I ask because a: after taking my last company to court for unfair dismissal (although i won), i would feel more comfortable knowing i'm covering my back.

b: i have some small issues that i want to sort out without "rocking the boat" (hence the name) and feel that this might be the ideal way to bring them up without, quite simply, looking like a tell tale twit.

Although our branch is small, its quite a large company who do seem to have strict proceedures and policies about most things.

But do they not have an appraisal policy? Could you check with HR?
And if there isn't a policy I don't see why you shouldn't ask for some sort of review. Good for you for being so pro-active....
