accrued annual leave and working your notice??

I'm working 3 months' notice currently, having just resigned. I've accrued several weeks worth of annual leave and am going to struggle to take it time-wise during the next 3 mths due to work load. What happens? Can I get payment in lieu or tag it on to the 3 months?

Not sure what your company rules are. Here people tend to subtract the leave they have accrued from the end of the 3 months notice - hence shortening the notice period.

I think you can do either but depends on work and staffing levels. If you are owed say a month and your notice is three months, if the company are happy you can just work the two months. However, if they want as much time from you as possible before you leave, they can pay you in lieu at the end of the three months. Acas will confirm the legalities free of charge 0845 747 4 747

thanks both. Think they'll want their pound of flesh so would likely have to work all notice. I just want to ensure I don't miss out on any a/l I would have accrued.

If it is accrued and are owed it you will be paid (I have done this before). You can ask to take it and leave early, but I think most places state that will be at their descretion - as someone else pointe dout staffing levels etc. Write a letter outlining the position and ask for confirmation in writing as to what they are going to do...
