Fulltime to 3 days per week - anyone done this???

Hi. I work fulltime 9-5 and an ex employee has asked me if I would be interested in job share doing my role with her. I would do 3 days and her 2 but has anyone done this and how easy was it?
I have being looking for part time work now for ages closer home but there isnt any that dont involve working a weekend and I cant commit to this as husband is doing 4 days on/4days off rota and this could fall a weekend which has for all of July so far. I want to spend more time with my kids. Even though they are 10 and 6 they still need me and childcare would be cheaper as this isnt cheap at the moment. People say it goes down - it does if you work school hours which unless you work in a school. I sadly dont.
Im worried about would I have to cover her holiday time or is there something that says I dont have to do this as that could get really messy especially when it comes to pay. Our boss is quite a tight wad as it is and Im not even sure he would consider the option so trying to find out the pros/cons before I put a request in for this..

Even though it's a job share, you should each have separate contracts that say what your role is and the number of days/week you will be working and the hours. You have the same rights as a full time employee so you will get pro rated holiday time and pay but all other benefits should be the same. You should not have to work her days when she's on holiday because it's in your contract what days you work.
