Any accountants out there doing contract work?

I am thinking of abandoning my safe full time job to try my hand at contract/interim work. I don't like my current company and was hoping contracting might also allow me some more flexibility around holidays . Is anyone out there working in this way, how easy is to actually find contracts , do you enjoy it? Any advice appreciated to help me leap into the unknown!

Hi Torres, my dp does accounting as a contractor. He likes it overall, but there have been contracts he's hated ie thrown in at the deep end, rubbish systems, high expectations of company. He says the market for it is quiet at the moment, he's working but he knows a few contractors out of work. He wouldn't want to go back to permanent work, but remember there's no sick pay, holiday pay or maternity etc and sometimes actual employees resent you (often higher paid...)

Sorry for waffling, good luck with your decision!
