Anyone work in cancer care?

And if so please could I pick your brains? I've got an interview next week as an MDT Facilitator. I need to find the National Cancer Plan to have a read (will be off to google in a minute) and need to have a basic knowledge of cancer care. I last worked in a general hospital 15 years ago so things might have changed. Are the "basics" radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgical intervention (in any combination?). Do alternative therapies play any part in hospital treatment these days? I know I won't need to know anything in any great depth, but I'm just guessing would need to have an awareness of what a patient's care pathway might be.

\link{http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk/Healthprofessionals\i don't, but I have this site in my favourites in case you haven't come across it}
(admittedly an odd choice for favourites but hey ho)
I have just clicked on the health professionals tab at the top for the link but the rest of the site is extremely informative.
Hope it helps a little bit if no one else can help Smile

Good luck Surfermum. Where's the job?

Thanks very much Squarer. That's a really helpful link - gives me what I need to know about treatments and I've found the cancer plan too. All I need to do now is inwardly digest it and try to remember it if I get asked about it.

Sparkler it's at RBH. Slightly nearer home, but I can't park outside the door which is the downside. Sounds like it could be an interesting job though.

I was an audiotypist years ago at PGH in Radiotherapy. Not sure I'd be much help to you though.

good luck Surfermum. Do you know who you'd be working for? I might be able to answer some questions but tbhg probably don't know that much more than jo bloggs.
