phoned up to get some info on a swanky new job. Left a message days ago, she phoned back to chat when I was in the middle of putting the chap down.

Was all flustered. sounded crap! going to meet her for proper informal chat next week.

Have I blown it?

Nooo - if you are going for a proper informal chat you can make a much better impression when you actually meet the woman. Don't wory I am sure you will be fine !

no, you haven't blown it at all, don't torture yourself going back over what you said - instead be constructive and think about what you will say when you meet.

Depends on what sort of company it is, but probably yes to be on the safe side - it can only make a good impression.

Best to be too smart rather than not smart enough in these situations. Good luck.

don't worry, someone rang me about a job this week. I was on the loo so ds2 answered- he's 4- so you can imagine. ds1 and ds3 started screaming their heads off (to the point where I had to swap to the walkabout phone and go off to the kitchen so I could hear what was beimg said. I did follow up with an email apologising for the chaos and saying that I had access to childcare during school terms (the work is from home)! I did get the job :)

In your situation I might say something when first meeting her alomg the lines of "sorry if I sounded a bit distracted I was putting the baby to bed", but I wouldn't worry about it.

I remember reading this thread but I didn't post at the time. I'm very pleased to hear that you got the job. Tell us more (though I'm supposed to be clearing a mountain of ironing).......

Thanks perhaps there is hope for me yet, I am taking a huge jump and I am still having trouble actually picturing myself in the job with aproper big wage.

I so understand how you felt after the first phonecall. When I got a call for the interview I was lucky that I was out and she left a message but she still managed to call me back before I got her, but at least I knew what she was on about.

Sorry, Chapsmum, can you run the meaning of that job title by me again? I have a number of friends who have jobs that I don't understand at all, so it's not just you. Ta. Smile

Good luck with it all, Skribble! Smile
