I feel bloody stupid :(

I am a freelancer but work is drying up so looking for full time work - applied for loads but is tough market blah blah. Very disheartening generally BUT today I saw one which looked soooo great, did a kick-arse cover letter, sent it off, then realised I'd made a typo. Or, I sort of was talking about one bit of experience I had, then had a random sentence about another which I forgot to delete. Like a dumb half sentence just plonked in there.
I think it's the straw that broke the camels back, cos I burst into tears when I realised.
Just a vent really. Aaaaargh.

Today? you mean yesterday?

Anyway send it again, without the typo, pretending you never sent the first. Don't give up hope!

Turn it to your advantage and use it as a reason to make contact with the person to whom the application was addressed - you will certainly stick in their mind when they do the sift and it demonstrates that you would be accountable, particularly if the rest of your letter is spot on.

Sorry, I'm in Australia, so today. I did resend, but the job is a writing job, so think they will be Hmm about my writing skills!

Thanks, that's reassuring. I am drip feeding now, but I did ring and explained what had happened and why there would be two applications!! The man said "that's a bit embarrassing for you." I died a little inside...

I'm one of the people that reads these... loads of these. I personally much prefer someone who emails apologising for the mistake and attaches a replacement. Shows willing to accept and rectify mistakes and a respect for the person reading. However, I probably wouldn't hold it against a candidate if its the only mistake, writing job applications is quite stressful and something that candidates don't do all the time...
