Hi all,

We just wanted to draw your attention to our shiny new dementia topic over here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/dementia

We hope it can be a helpful space to discuss your experiences and share advice. We'll be moving some threads over, but in the meantime feel free to start your own.

Thanks.

Dementia is not a stand alone topic. Many of our parents also have complex health needs, whilst questions around care, Powers of Attorney, and even the emotional fall-out from being part of a sandwich generation are not confined to dementia.

The dementia topic has been around for a while, and has been used by some. As is the carers topic. Please can we be allowed the freedom to post where we want to.

My mother is my elderly parent. My responsibilities stem from that. I don't want her to be defined by her dementia. Instead I want to receive support from, and give support to others who are caring for elderly parents.

Good point NMS. We don't really want everything to be defined by dementia, there is crossover with others who are also responsible for their parents, for example through frailty.
Also, and maybe i'm being a bit paranoid I'd worry that we, a pretty vulnerable group, would end up having products and services targeted at us on the dementia board.
