Social Care - how long does it take them to sort out a care package?

I realise this may be impossible to answer but I am not familiar with the process surrounding care packages via Social Care.

I've posted before about my DM being in hospital following a stroke on 25th May.

On 23rd June, we met with the nursing staff, OT, physios and social care to discuss "the next steps". It was agreed that DM wants to come home to be with DF and that Social Care would sort out a care package (2 carers x4 times per day).

Since then we have taken delivery of appropriate equipment (bed, hoist etc) and have telecare install booked for 11th July.

My Dsis contacted Social Care today and was told that they have processed the paperwork but are waiting for responses. We don't know how many agencies they have contacted or an appropriate timescale to expect progress.

My poor DM is begging to come home and we are stuck in limbo. I don't know whether to approach any agencies independently as DM and DF are funding the care package entirely as they don't qualify for funding. Can anyone shed any light on how long this process is likely to take, please?

TIA.

It varies, was she in receipt of care before? If it's a brand new package it can take some time to source an agency with the capacity for such a big package. Also, they may have to ask for additional funding to fund such a package. Normally maximum a week or two for a new package

It's a brand new care package. Would they need additional funding if my parents are paying in full?

Sorry, I read that it was a ss funded package... My misunderstanding.

I think if your parents are funding you should give the social worker a nudge

Sorry pressed post by accident. Give a nudge at the end of the week. You will need to put pressure on ss to keep things moving

It does take time to put a on going care package in place but the hospital discharge team will and can put into place quickly this support in the short term until the longer term support is in place.

If the hospital are in agreement that your DM is ready to be discharged then maybe ask whether the HDT can help out and just keep communicating with the social worker.
