Videos to help with abc's, 123's ?

Hi all, can anyone recommend some good educational videos? I was thinking along the lines of learning abc's etc and also french for complete beginners.

DS is only 2.1 but has picked up soooo much from a Makaton video we have that I'm sure if I had a fun abc or french video he'd start to pick them up to. He already knows 2/3 of the alphabet to look at (boastful mum alert!) so I'm keen to nurture this new found love!

TIA

We have the Postman Pat ones as well. They are very good but are very repetitive......good for little learners but not so good for mummies who already know their ABC .

Thanks stacijc. I have seen loads on amazon but I have no idea which ones are actually good ones. Also, whether to go for a known character or one more obscure that's just been made up for that particular video iykwim! I wasn't sure if the character ones are just out to make money and aren't really that good??

dd's school uses the "jolly phonics" system to teach abc's and you can buy their videos at ELC.

here

They sell all the flash cards and things too so you can play games based around the phonics system.

I wouldn't think so - each letter is given a sort of sound and action. My dd and I sit and do the actions with the flashcards.

For example A is a, a, a, ant and then run their fingers up and down the arm as if they had ants in their arm.

It's quite simple to understand.

When I was on holiday, a little boy won a compotition. His name was Euan, and when he was asked how to spell it he repplied very clearly eh, oo, a, nnnn (jolly phonics style). Was hillarious, everyone who had children understood, felt sorry for the 18 year old red entertainer.

Do the flash cards have an 'action' on them or is that from a book? Had a quick look at your link, is there a particular one you'd recommend?

Funnily enough my aunt teaches english out in china and she said they use actions for sounds out there... hadn't heard of it before then. Sounds good.

no the flashcards have the letter on one side and a picture on the other - for example A has an ant on the picture side.

You'd probably need to buy the information video or book which explains how to make each sound, action.

To be honest I haven't watched the video's for so long I can't remember whats on them.

Alternativly I could just post the actions for the whole alphabet here I know them all!!!!!!!!

Hi sweetheart, thanks for the info. Next time I'm near ELC I'll take a look, but if you feel like posting and have the time it would be good to know a few of the actions (but only if you have the time!!)

Hi

If you want a language video I would recommend the bilingual baby series. (American) available from Amazon.com. I use the italian one with my dd (1) and she really likes it. They do French and Spanish as well.

Hi,

My 2yr old is talking really well, I have created custom phonics videos and I'm slowly putting them on my YouTube channel.

I can create custom ones that you suggest.
For the cartoons or characters you like.
Please let me know your thoughts and please subscribe and comment so I can keep creating them.
