Art inspiration needed, please!

My Y6 pupils are soon to be visiting a local refinery in connection with their science topic. I have been asked to plan some art activities for them as a follow-up but I'm decidedly lacking inspiration at the moment! Any ideas will be gratefully received!

an oil refinery?

how about marbling? (just in case you don't know what that is mind, for yr 6 that's probably a bit basic, but perhaps they could produce a diary collage using after doing the marbling

Or, take the concept of oil and water don't mix a little further to look at the concept of identity (which is in the art and design curriculum).

Obviously if you are visiting another sort of refiniery I'll need to think again....

do you have pottery facilities? lustre glazes are good

the concept of refining shouold be ripe with ideas - in fact you refine your ideas for a finished artwork, so a process involving a lot of source material (perhaps photos from the day) refined down into a finished painting or print?

oil pastels? mix your own oil paint using oil from the refinery and find-it-yourself pigments?
