I have a friend whose daughter goes there - it is a very good school.

As the school is voluntary aided e.g. is a church school, they don't have a catchment as such - so you have to apply. Don't have to be C of E - they take from all back grounds. Also, they can take a certain percentage based on the specialist status of the school. HTH

Not at all, although do bear in mind that secondaries schools can change a lot in a short space of time. Have to say that we did move initially because of schools though, so know how you feel.

I love dd's nursery / infant / junior school (all joined) but we both dislike the secondary schools round here and as we're considering moving in the nxt 18months (hopfully for the last time )we both thought it might be worth looking into school prior to moving.

Latest ofsted report is here - from Feb this year. Reads as a pretty good school. It is over subscribed and very popular with parents.

Definitely worth considering if you are moving, esp as you hope it will be the last move for a while As it is oversubscribed, it is worth looking at one or two other possibilities in the area too though.

Not sure if you are aware that the Bluecoat school is now on two campusses, the original one being on Aspley Lane and they are now also at the the school that used to be Margaret Glenn Bott. (Wollaton park), I know several families who send their children there. I am also aware that there is lots of building work going on at Aspley Lane site although not sure what for.

Consider where you move to if you are that side of Nottingham very carefully. Secondary schools are a big issue. Bluecoat's admission criteria were very tight and although they may have changed now they have 2 campuses a lot of children don't get in. Where you choose to live would decide your second choice. Are you religious?
