so annoyed with nursery

I put dd name down for the nursery at the local primary school when she was about 9 months old and was told then that she would be due to start in January 2006. I was told that at the end of October this year I would get a letter confirming whether she had am or pm sessions.
I rang them today as I have not had a letter to be told that dd and one other are on a reserve list as all the places for January had been taken. When I asked why I was told that kids with siblings already at the school and birthdates prior to dd took priority. She said she was still waiting for 3 people to confir their child's place and that if she had not had a respoense by Friday this week then dd would be offered a place early next week. I then found out that if all places are taken then dd will have to wait until September 06. I am, really annoyed that none of this was explained to me and it seems unfair that dd is made to wait. If she doesn't get in I will have to pay for private nursery as she is more than ready for that level of interaction.

Yeah, it happens, even with nurseries. So try to get a place ASAP in a good one. DS was in the waiting list of the one we liked most for almost 2 yrs at the end of which he was ofered a... couple of evenings (we needed at least 4 days) so he went to second best which we now love to bits. So, it may have a happy ending (apart of the cost, though if she is already 3 she can get a place for, sometimes, as much of 50% less)

Hi helsi. I had the same thing happen with ds1 and he had to wait until the September he was 4 to start nursery.

I thought well at least ds2 will get a place in the January after he turns 3 because he is a sibling and his birthday is 1 September so there is no way even another sibling could be older than him. Guess what he hasn't got a place because they have filled all of the January 06 places with children who were eligible for entry in September 05 but they didn't get a place then.

So it looks like he too will start nursery after he has turned 4. He does however go to Playgroup at the moment and will be eligible for funding (nursery vouchers) from January 06 your dd should also be eligible if she is 3 before the end of the year.

My daughter is due nursery entry September 07 (private nursery), at which point, she will be 2 years and 2 months, but I will have been ringing the nursery every month for three years to keep her on the waiting list. It's mad.

I did try another 2 local ones at other schools near us and they are all full too and so she is on a list again in those.
