I can smell it over the other side of the room even though I have put it back in the bag

worst one I have ever received
I just want to pack it up and send it straight back tbh

is that reasonable? I'm pretty hacked off tbh, am pg and it has made me retch when I opened it

Did it say it was from a smoke free home?

not unreasonable no, but if you really like it and it is washable I would stick it in the wash straightaway. (or get your dp to do so)

It is a lot of hassle to send it back, especially if you are running low on clothes that fit.

Perhaps if it came from a "smoking home" - sorry that sounds wrong, even if you did send it back the seller might not think it was unreasonable.

Swedes no it didn't, but surely we can expect clothes to turn up in clean and wearable condition, rather than filthy and dirty? It REALLY mings

onepiece I expect you are right
I just know it will need washing quite a few times to really get rid of the smell and I have (unreasonably) taken against the ruddy thing altogether now

it's just a horrible feeling when you get a nice parcel and then this smell hits you

I've had this several times and it truly is awful. I find hanging the clothes outside for a while really helps get rid of the smell. My latest one like that is dry clean only so I'm not very happy.

I am always very sensitive to smells when pg - lots of us are I think, so really don't think you are being unreasonable.

Add a little bit of extra powder and one wash will get rid of the smell hopefully. Especially if you can let it flap about a bit on the washing line. Try adding a few drops of lavender oil in final rinse, instead of fabric conditioner. That helps with nappies so may do with smoke.

TBH - some smokers just don;t know that stuff stinks. My parents have no idea that DS smells that bad when he comes home from visiting them we call him "smokey bloke"

Words like good, clean, unstained etc are decriptive of the visual condition of the item. If the smell of the item isn't mentioned, it does not form part of the express terms of the contract of sale. Sadly on Ebay, there is no presumption of an item not smelling of smoke or piss even which is why "from a smoke free, pet free home" are such well-used terms.

This happened to me once, I comlained via email and he refunded in full, no quibbles, but let me keep the stinky jeans - worth dropping them an email I think

thanks for ideas
I really do think that clean should include not being smelly
I am going to write to the seller anyway - if she really doesn't know her stuff stinks, then she ought to
if she knows and doesn't care, then

Yuk, I know what you mean. I once received a skirt which was rank. It smelt of fags but the seller had tried to disguise it by blitzing it with Fabreeze - not sure which was worse.

oh yes this stinks of perfume also - IMO she DID know it smelt smoky - because of course PERFUMEY smoke is a really nice smell

I suppose at least it is washable
once got a children's card game type thing that was all smoky and couldn't really be washed
