Sold my bugaboo for £255, sent email to buyer asking to arrange a date for collection but recieved a reply that they didn't need it anymore. They have offered to pay for the listing and relisting fees but im still that my time has been wasted as now i have to relist again and hope it sells Is there anything i can do?

I thought they had to pay? That's what you tick when you confirm you are bidding for the item?

Thats what i thought, i think the real problem is that my listing clearly states that it is collection only (stated several times) and that they live at the other end of the country!

Is there anyway of finding out who the next highest bidder was? I think its called 'second chance offer' or something. Maybe you could then charge the person who dropped out the difference?

Can you suggest using a courier?

i dont think there is anything you can do really. i know it is ment to be a legal contract, but persuing that would be more time and effort than just relisting it. can you offer it to the second bidder under the buyer? or was that not enough money?

this makes me so mad. some people think ebay is a game.

I didn't want to use a courier as i havent got a box big enough and i think its too high value towrap in bin bags etc, i even offered free delivery within a 20 mile radius of us.
Will look into a 2nd chance offer.

Just to be on the other side for a second, I am 99% sure they are just time wasters, but them saying they don't need it anymore, might well mean, as in they don't have a baby for it anymore....

Just so you get another POV. It is a strange excuse for something they just changed their mind on.

The buyers husband has emailed, they do want it and it was because they didn't read the listing properly. Just waiting to see when and if they will collect it.

go through ebay disputes. You'll get refunded fees she'll learn not to piss folks around.

The 1st email i got when she didn't want it claimed that she had had a scan and there wasn't enough seats (ie twins?), i had already sent an email saying i offered the free delivery within 20 miles and my contact numbers, then the husband contacted me saying that the wife had wanted it but checked that it was collection only or how far away we are!
The 2nd chance offer was a shop i think and they wanted me to deliver to them about 60+miles away or cover the cost of courier so i declined!

I am having a similar problem with a buyer of a car radio/cassette player. They won the item 6 days ago and last night said they can't afford it! Why do they commit to buy if they are going to do this to people? It's people like that who make you mistrustful of everybody, which isn't fair.
I will report the item as unpaid, to Ebay. I know though, that they've got away with it.
How irritating. Good luck with yours.

Sadly this will happen more now because of the new rules. It's really crap.

Give them a strike, anyway, that way they get chucked off if they have 3 strikes I think.

the new ebay feedback rules mean that if you give them an unpaid item strike they can leave you negative feedback its so unfair

yes , i cannot believe that ebay have stopped sellers being able to leave negative feedback- and at least neutral would have allowed us to indicate that we weren't happy.... now its ok for the buyer to moan but not the seller.
