RANT - so frustrated that people do not leave feedback

I am building my rating for my business and feel really annoyed that in the last few weeks only 3 out of 8 people have bothered leaving feedback. I have even emailed them to politely ask that they leave feedback to let me know they received item and still nothing!!!

RANT OVER

People buy a product not feedback .

Pl be careful chasing people for feedback as people who received polite email re feedback left negative feedback with the text: here is your feedback! Happy now?

Maybe you can add the text onto your invoice (I do this and 8 out of 10 leave feedback) saying, if you have recieved your goods and are happy please tell other people and if not tell me prior to leaving feedback or something like that

I don't leave feedback if I can't be positive.

But also-it does irk me a little when I am really chased for feedback by a seller (I've had 4x emails in the pasts, fgs-take a HINT!). I do leave it usually, in my own good time, but, you know, the ebayer has had my money already...

When I sell I normally get more than 3 / 8 people leaving feedback though.

(not you take a hint, btw, the seller who chased me for feedback)

horseshoe, as others have said, there is a danger in chasing. Better to just have a general reminder in the package (like on a slip of paper) to say that their feedback is greatly appreciated and you will leave feedback once they leave theirs. But to email you first if there are any problems.

If they don't leave feedback, best to just leave it. From my limited selling experience, I think about 50% leave feedback.

If you have the time, you can go into the buyers' feedback profile to see whether they have left feedback for others. If they left for lots of positives for other sellers but did not do so for yours, there is a risk that it is because they were unhappy in some way but did not want to leave neutral/negative and could not be bothered to ask for a refund/post back.

I know I have done that. Just decided to take it on the chin even though I was not happy with the condition of an item of clothing and did not feel the seller should have even listed the item for sale. When chased for feedback, I explained in an email about how I did not think the amount of bobbling on the fabric corresponded with just a few times' use. But of course the seller will swear black and blue otherwise, as she did. So achieved nothing.

You will get there, horseshoe . I believe eBay rules are changing in May to not give sellers the right to leave negative feedback. That might encourage more buyers to leave feedback, as they do not have to fear retailiatory negative feedback from the seller.

I put a note in saying, basically, I do my best to send people excellent quality items but mistakes can happen and if there is a problem I want to know so we can try to sort it out.

And THEN I say something along the lines of, if you are happy with the item and the transaction, I would really appreciate feedback.

I get around 80% of buyers leaving feedback, which is nice,
(and I have 100% good feedback) though its not why i do it-I do it because its polite-they ARE doing me a favour really, leaving feedback.

I know what you are all saying....

People are paying £60 + for the products so I have to assume they received it.

I had someone call me up 2 MONTHS after I sent the item to say they had not received it then left feedback complaining how long it took blah blah. Actually I sent another replacement item as soon as they notified me and it took 2 days.

I dont chase for feedback directly. Just send them a polite email to ask if they received the product but I do not get any replies so I can only assume they did!!

Like MotherFunk, I batch up my feedback and do it every 6 weeks or so in one big session.

I've just had a tot up and for my last few months sales (not including the last couple of weeks) I have received feedback from 87% of my buyers and I always leave feedback on posting.

I never chase feedback or hold it hostage until buyer has left theirs. I do pop a compliment slip in with the item to ask buyer to email me with any problems.

I still have 100% positive feedback from genuinely happy buyers.

For whatever reason some buyers do wait up to several months to send feedback but it's usually worth the wait.

Sorry I am probably one of them. I use ebay about twice a year if I am desperate for something. Then don't go on it again for months.

I find communication is key. I email my buyers as soon as it is shipped, to let them know I have sent it, and I ask them very politely to please let me know when they receive it. I dont ever ever ask for feedback.

However, I dont leave feedback until the buyer has indicated he is happy and the transaction is actually over, or they have left feedback. I dont think I have ever really NOT received feedback. And I have a 100% rating.

I think you can be sure that no feedback means the item has been received, if some one hasn't received something they've payed for, they'll soon let you know.

I haven't left someone feedback this week, as I disapointed with the item, but can't bring myself to leave negative feedback.
