What feedback do I leave?

Bought dd a pair of jeans on ebay, description said small hole to the front, not noticeable, couldn't even really get a photo as so small won't affect wear..
Item arrives with a rip about 1/2 inch long (baring in mind jeans are 18-24months!) right across the front of the jeans next to where the zip is.. Very very visible..
I Messaged when they arrived today saying I wasn't happy, how would she like me to proceed to get a refund?
Email from paypal this afternoon to say I've been refunded and she's left a message saying 'sorry the jeans Wernt suitable'
No message reply through ebay.... What do I do?!
Confused

Well she gave you a refund straight away and didn't make you send them back so I wouldn't give a negative feedback. Either leave no feedback or a positive saying item had a rip in it but seller refunded

I would probably not leave any - but the seller did reply when they refunded. Seems pretty good to me.

Had a problem with fault, seller refunded immediately.

That's truthful.

Positive or neutral? It was to exactly a great experience, the jeans are unwearable and the few other pairs I had my eye on have now finished, but equally.. She did her best, despite a bad listing Confused

I wouldn't give + feedback
She was trying it on selling damaged and not accurately described goods
I'd leave neutral and put in the comments that she refunded
I used to accept any crap but I've got tougher now
It's disgusting what some people think is OK to sell on eBay

Neutral feedback is like giving a negative and will reduce her ratings. Hopefully now she has had to refund you she will be more careful with her listings.

neutral will not change her percentage - tbh low stars across the board are way more damaging.

I'd probably leave nothing.
OP sounds peeved, though, peeved probably deserves at least a neutral.
You still get to rate stars and any low stars may count as separate defects (I think).

You don't actually have to leave any feedback - it is purely voluntary, not an integral part of the transaction and not necessary. Many people don't bother leaving any ever.

If you want low stars to count as low mark them as such - leaving them blank does not mean they are a low rating, it doesn't count as anything if you don't fill them in.

Xpost....
Correction to what I said, if the Ebay discussion boards are to be relied upon, each buyer can only contribute one bad defect mark, no matter how many things they rate down (all the stars & the f/back & reporting, etc.). So low stars across the board is as bad as just one bad star.
Obviously low F/back is more visible and could have additional impact by discouraging other potential buyers.

But the new defect system is very confusing & subject to change so Ebay might well start adding up defects from individual buyers after all. I can't see that the seller deserves all low stars when they dispatched on time for instance, and OP hasn't complained about postage charge, either.

Sorry I stand corrected I think there may have once been a time when it did?

they are changing over the system as we type, ITISW..., it used to be that lots of low stars were a problem even if only from one buyer but now it's more a case of "how many individual buyers did you piss off?"
