eBay

Buyer has opened a case against me

I sold a lovely iCandy pram/pushchair and the lady came to collect in person from my house. I had said in the description that viewing was welcome and that the wheels showed some wear. When she came to collect she said she would like it so I showed her how to put it up and down etc.

Now 8 days later she has opened a case against me saying that the wheels have stones in and that the frame doesn't collapse properly. She is asking for a refund.

I don't know what to do. I think she is being unfair but if I argue the case ebay will more than likely give her a full refund and then expect me to pay and she will still get to keep the pushchair!

Tell her to return the pushchair and you will refund the money. Then sell it to someone that isn't a dick.

The easiest and least hassle option is to tell her to bring it back and refund, then relist.

Did she pay in cash?

Did she pay via PayPal? It's too late now, but never ever accept PayPal where people collect, for just this reason. I've found eBay will always side with the buyer which is a pain. Can you ask her to return it? She'll have to prove she's done so if she wants a refund I think.

did she pay cash? if so I'd leave it. she saw it in person and also it took her 8 days to notice? I wouldn't be accepting something back after 8 days.
If she paid PayPal it's a tougher battle Sad

if she paid paypal she needs to return tracked to get a refund - you cannot refuse this.

I really hope she paid cash.

She paid in cash when she came to collect. I've said I will be happy to refund fully if she returns the pushchair. She is now saying she can't return it as she has a newborn baby!

Did she collapse if at your house before she took it away?
You have offered to refund in full - she doesn't want to - tough.

if she paid cash and your communication is via ebay, so they can see you have offered to refund if item returned, surely ebay will find in your favour?

well no return no refund - there is nothing else you can do to resolve. Do not be bullied, and do not give her anything until she returns it in full to you in the condition in which she collected it. eBay will not make you pay her anything as she didn't pay by paypal.

She's after a part refund I'll bet.

well, as she didn't pay by paypal there is no way eBay can find in her favour. Just ask her to return for a refund - and do not be bullied.

Tell her to return it, if she won't tough no refund.

If she does return it make sure you check thoroughly for any damage she might have caused

She is after a partial refund. She has got a bargain anyway so I will not give it to her.

She didn't collapse the pushchair herself, I opened it and then collapsed it for her to show her how it works.

The only thing I'm worried about is that she knows where I live! And her boyfriend who came with her to collect was less than friendly!

Cheeky cow. Stick to your guns. This kind of thing is what has put me off selling on eBay lately.

She could be a mumsnetter and she could be reading this. If she is and she has she wont be troubling you again!

I agree with everyone else though - a full refund on return. The new baby is a poor excuse for not returning. The boyfriend could bring it back.
