Is this item saleable?

A few years ago, I bought a really expensive super kingsize mattress made by a brand I'd never heard of before but which was sold to me as one of the best UK manufacturers of mattresses: Harrison Beds. I can't remember exactly how much I paid, but it was in the region of £1,500 at least. Needless to say that the mattress is amazing!
I now need to very reluctantly sell it because we're moving and the master bedroom doesn't fit a super kingsize. I've tried to find local stockists of Harrison Beds mattresses to look at possibly buying another mattress in the right size and I've discovered that Harrison Beds are the makers of the John Lewis Natural Collection of mattresses which are very sought after. The super kingsize range from £1,000 to £5,000. I think my mattress is middle of the range.
So here is the question: is my mattress saleable on Ebay? One side is quite stained but the other one is immaculate because we've never turned it it weighs a tonne. Used JL Natural Collection do sell well but mine says Harrison on it. Will people buy it if I explain that it's exactly the same as a JL Natural Collection? How much would you list for?
It just seems a terrible shame to take it to the dump.
I have over 700 all positive feedback and very high star ratings.

I'm not sure I'd buy a stained mattress - could you get it cleaned?

Does it still have the Fire Safety tag or whatever it is on it? I think it may be illegal to sell without that tag on, and at the very least, you'll have a tough time finding a buyer for it without one.

Yes it has the fire tag on.
Getting it cleaned could be a good idea. Any idea how much it would cost?

You need to check completed listings on ebay to get idea what it is worth, but I doubt a 2nd hand mattress would ever get much money really.

Or try selling on gumtree?

Truth is, I don't really care how much I get for it. I just can't bear the thought of it going to the dump Sad

Certainly worth trying to sell it rather than binning it. It won't sell for much at all, but having someone to collect it will save you the hassle of getting it to the tip.

Failing that you could always freecycle it.

Doubt anyone would buy it, maybe offer it on free cycle?

It would be snapped up on Freecycle.

I do think you could flog it on Ebay, though, just be brutally honest about defects. Most people are far scruffier than MN would lead you to believe and won't care about stains once a cover & sheet are on it. It's worth a shot.

Use Free listing weekends and start a listing price at the minimum you could bear receiving for it, if it doesn't sell you can relist the next free listing weekend and consider lowering the price.

Thanks you guys, you've given me some really good ideas. I'll try to clean it first and take it from there. I may try to sell it on Ebay and if it doesn't sell, I'll freecycle it.
Thanks again
