I have an item for sale on eBay, only listed as "Buy it now"

The listing has 9d 03h left. I have 10 watchers.

Why are they watching and not buying? Do you think they are watching until the price reduces? If so, when should I reduce the price?

TIA :)

They are watching because:

  1. they are selling a similar item and want to see how much yours sells for.

  2. they are watching a number of similar items and comparing prices.

  3. it's eBay so nothing happens until a minute before the listing ends.

I sometimes watch a buy it now because I want it but I'm not sure I need it or can afford it. Or sometimes I am looking for a cheaper one and I might be bidding on a cheaper one but if I don't win or the price goes up too much I'll come back to the buy it now. I don't think you need to reduce the price.

If I send you the link UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea, could you please tell me if there is room for improvement?

You can do, I'm not an expert though Blush

I agree with everything Unexpected said. Nothing much happens on eBay sales til the last 2 mins.

The listing still has 9 days. Do you think I should make it shorter?

I watch "buy it nows" for one reason. That is if the item interests me but I feel the price is too high, and hoping it gets lowered as sometimes happens. If you have 10 watchers it will sell, but you may require a re-list. My guess is that the price is considered too high for most people.

To answer your original question, I wouldn't lower it...one of the 10 will "give in" before the listing ends and you will get your "expensive side" price.

I think that if I were interested in buying it I'd want to see more photos of it set up in different configurations, and photos of the damage that you describe in the text.

It's hard for me to say as it's not my "area of expertise". But as a seller I know that if you have 10 watchers, maybe 5 are actually interested in buying. One of them will finally give in. I would hold the price where it is. Less than half RRP price for a slightly used item seems reasonable. Never be in any rush to sell on eBay...I've made a lot of money with that policy! It will sell..be patient ;)

Marks, sorry, not damage.

Good point Mrs. This is an expensive item, and a full collection of pictures is really required for something at £360, especially of any damage. Why did I forget to mention that?! lol

On a BIN there's no reason not to go ahead & just buy if they are interested in buying at all.
BIN listings come up on "ending soon" option, so can get more interest in last 2 days.

I have gradually lowered price before, I think some buyers definitely watch for that and it makes them more twitchy. Just lowered by a small amount each day.

X post, agree some more info about the condition or pictures would be best. I have posted pics on another website & linked to the Ebay listing so that I can reduce fees. The problem with this ad is too little info about use, history, wear.

If it were mine and I wanted to daily reduce I would just cut £5 a day off for now on, that gets it down to just over £300 at worst. With BINs usually best to start with the highest possible price you hope to get & then gradually reduce to what you realistically expect. I've had good results with that tactic as long as it is a desirable item; much better profits than sending it to auction.

There is a reason lljkk, namely the hope it will go down in price. That has to be balanced against the risk that someone else will buy it before that happens. I know, because I make that decision several times a day!
As I said, keep the price where it is, and maybe add a more detailed description of any flaws, with more pictures.

Just leave it don't start price reducing. Check in a day or do before its due to end.
