eBay

Item not met reserve.

I was bidding on an item but it closed without reaching the reserve. I asked the seller if I was close to the reserve price and we agreed a price we are both happy with.
What is the best way to arrange payment and despatch.

I think he can just issue you with an invoice for the agreed amount.

Ok I'll get the seller to try that, thanks.

the seller needs to relist and do a buy it now - just sending you an invoice they are avoiding ebay fees which is not allowed and you lose buyer protection plus the ability to leave feedback if it all goes pear shaped.

Agree with fergoose.
Ask them to re-list as a buy it now.
You and they are then covered by Ebay if anything should go wrong. Even more important on a higher priced item!

Ok, that's helpful, thanks. The item is over £100 so I certainly want buyer protection etc. The seller genuinely didn't know how to proceed, I'll let them know.

if the item has ended it is not avoiding ebay fees as it did not sell,

if she pays via paypal there is a chance to open paypal dispute though obviously not an ebay one as you can use paypal for anytype of transfer yes there is extra safety in getting seller to relist but if something does not sell you are under no obligation to relist it
