Hi I have recently sold a few higher value items such as pushchair, baby equipment etc whereas most of my listings are mine and the kids clothes and shoes. Due to the higher value stuff increasing my overall balance this year Paypal have now restricted my account until I send them ID confirmation such as driving licence passport etc, has anyone else had to do this? Did they then lift the sending limit? Am a bit worried about the secrity aspects of sending such detailed info about myself.

Have you seen the message when you log into your pay pal acc or just via email. I get alot of spoof PayPal emails. If its genuine it will also be visible on your acc info on PayPal site.
If in doubt ring them, sending id sounds wrong to me

They usually just ask you to add additional bank info, credit card etc.

it is a pretty standard requirement of anyone moving more than say about £50-100 a month, you have to do it to get your money unless your account confirmed there are yearly restrictions

The info comes up when I log into PayPal so I know it is genuine. My account is already linked to credit card and bank account. I rang them last night and they said it is because I am reaching the annual limit. I just haven't heard of anyone having to do it and also the info has to be uploaded via my account so if it got hacked into there would be so much of my personal info available.

I had this once in a similar situation to yours.

I think you are allowed to 'earn' £1500 pounds a year or so without having to confirm anything and send a similar amount. Anything above that has to be double checked to prevent money laundering.

There is a tab somewhere that says when your year starts and ends and its usually the annual date of when you opened your PP account or ebay account if opened at the same time. In my case it was just a few weeks off so I just left it and sold again after that date without any problems.

yes it is normally fairly easy to get limit amended by fulfilling certain conditions, ie enabling them to take money you might owe them, or if they decide to give a refund etc

your limit will not be lifted without submitting certain info
