selling quite a bulky cardigan at a reasonable price but obviously postage is expensive. someone from a European country has asked if I send abroad. has anyone done this or is it really inconvenient. i wouldn't know how to calculate the postage.

My instincts tell me it is more hassle than it is worth.

thanks

I sell abroad all the time and encounter no more problems than I do with delivery to UK buyers. In fact I have quite a few regular overseas customers now who return to me time and time again.
It's not hard to calculate the postage - just weigh the item and look up the cost on Royal Mail's website. If you want to play it safe then use "International Signed For" or the "Airsure" Service both of which have tracking but are more expensive than Airmail.
It won't hurt to work out the postage and let your potential buyer know the cost - they can then decide if they want to buy your item or not and you can state that you'll only send via a tracked service so you can prove delivery / receipt.
The only issue I occasionally come across with International sales is that parcels can take a while to arrive and buyers sometimes have slightly unrealistic expectations regarding delivery times.
Most foreign buyers though are just happy that I'm prepared to ship items to them that they can't source locally and are no hassle whatsoever.

thanks 89s babe.

the item weighs about 895 g and i did an airmail search. it only seemed to give information for a small packet or letter but this would be a more of a parcel like a coat which it didn't seem to allow for?

just don't want to get stung and underquote on postage. it quoted about £7.80. i know if i sent it in GB it would cost around £5.53.

Which country is it ? The cost will vary depending on where you are sending to.
I am pretty sure that either Airsure or ISF is available almost everywhere in Europe though.

I've had good experiences selling abroad, too, but depends to where. Northern Europe & France fine, not so sure about Italy (sorry, but well dodgy rep).
