Split up from xp a year ago and moved to rented accomodation with our 4 yr old son with a view to buying a flat nearby as ds starts primary in sept. Just as I'm finally able to get a mortgage, house prices have rocketed and have been priced out of the area. Also xp hasn't stuck to the parenting plan. Ds won't stay overnight with him and xp is making no effort to change this.

I'd like relocate to a cheaper area but xp does not agree with ds changing schools, or us moving more than a mile or two away. Am I being unreasonable? I just want to be able to provide a stable home that I can afford without taking on stupid amounts of debt. Xp not open to discussing this calmly and mediation not an option.

And should I be making ds stay overnight with his Dad? Xp thinks its a bad idea but ds will be 5 this year and xp is capable of having him, just likes to put work first. And as much as I love ds he is very, very stubborn and feel like I'm pandering. WWYD?
