Divorce/separation

How would our finances be split if courts are to decide?

Hi, so we're not actually split up yet, but it is looking more and more likely. I just wanted to have a bit of an idea about what money I might be left with if we cannot come to an arrangement and courts have to decide for us.

We don't have a lot anyway, no house as we rent, and that hopefully will be my home still. Joint account and own accounts, but I have an ISA with a larger sum in. This is what I am questioning really. Would it simply be mine as it is in my name? Or would it get split because it was saved while we were together? H doesn't know about our finances at all (through choice- I have to force him to look at water bills etc as he just doesn't want to know).

Anyway, any knowledge greatly appreciated.

hide the account away in some elses name that you trust if he does not know about it before you separate!! he could and probably will get half if you declare it at court which you would have to do. it would not be yours jsut cos its in your name!

Incitement to commit perjury/pervert the course of justice kittykat? Would you compensate OP when she gets found out (as she surely will) and has to pay her H's legal costs?

Thought not.

Thanks for your comments. I don't want to be underhanded, just wondering what would happen really. I do feel as though it is my money but accept that H and the law may not see it that way.
