Today i have recieved my decree nisi announcement that will be 26th march.i have worked out that my decree absolute can be applied for on 8th may.My stbxh is the petitioner and i am the respondent.my question is if he applies on that date how soon will i get my copy of decree absolute? I am not using a solicitor so all correspondence from court has come straight to me.if it takes a couple of weeks can i go to the clerks at court and ask for a copy after a couple ofdays or so.the reason i am asking is my partner and i wish to marry on 28th may but would need to give notice and book by the 12th may .cutting itfine i know but this date is very special to us♥

You'd get it within 2-3 days of it being made, but he doesn't have to apply for it then, or at all. You can only apply after he's done nothing for 3 months.

Would it be his solicitor that applies for it.my friend recently divorced and she said her solicitor dealt with evrything she just kept going to sign forms and evrything was automatically done.

If your STBXH has a solicitor then they will apply but it might take a week or so for it to be received, even if they apply on the first possible date. He will have to instruct his solicitor to apply, it will not be done automatically.

I'm assumign you've sorted out the finances? If not, then his solicitor might advise sorting that first.

As Collaborate says, if he doesn't apply, then you have to wait a further 3 months AFTER the 6 weeks and one day following pronouncement of DN. I'm sorry but I think you might be cutting it realy fine. Does your ex know of your re-marriage plans? As you are re-marrying, please ensure that you have resolved all your financial issues first.
