Sorting out finances for mortgage and my income support.

Hi, so I am hoping to stay in our house with the kids. Both our names are on the deeds but as I have been a sahm my stbexh has paid the mortgage and bills etc.
Now I will be asking him for enough child maintenance to cover the mortgage repayments and utilities aas well as a bot extra each month.
The bank won't transfer the mortgage into my name, so I'll have to put the mortgage repayment back into his account each month inorder for the standing order to go out.
This sounds overly complicated already.

So I will want to claim income support. And I know they don't take into consideration child maintenance payments. But how do I show them that I am paying for everything when my ex will still technically be paying the mortgage?

Do I need letters from solicitors or a meeting with the bank?

I can't see how to make the leap and be able to claim everything i'm able to.
Does this make sense and can you help?

Get legal advice. As a sahm you will be entitled to maintenance for you as well as the kids & leave the mortgage payments to come out of his account for the time being or he will be liable for repossession in his name too if mortgage is unpaid so will want to keep paying it. A good family law society solicitor will give free initial interview.

Applying for income support doesn't include listing your outgoings....

But income support does take into account ALL income

Yes, but I'm not really understanding the issue - as long as you declare the income (and maintenance while declarable doesn't affect income support anyway) they won't ask or indeed care what it is spent on.

The mortgage provider is happy for me to make the payments so long as both of our names remain on the account. So I think if we do this I would then be able to claim income support?

Yes, it's child maintenance...the fact that you're using it to pay the mortgage isn't relevant to income support and any arrangements with your mortgage provider aren't relevant either.

They will want to know that you're being paid maintenance and how much, but it doesn't affect your claim.

Can't you leave his name on the mortgage and have the payment come out of your account anyway?

Seems the mortgage provider doesn't mind who's bank account it comes from, mine or h's. We'll both stay on the mortgage and on deeds i think.
