Last October I began divorce proceedings against my emotionally abusive and controlling stbxh. Anyway, cut a long story short, I still don't even have my Decree Nisi. I've come up against delay after delay caused by a GP who was slow to submit the required medical report for my ds who has minor special needs, the petition not being signed in time, and stbxh's solicitor being slow to submit the paperwork to the Matrimonial Office and therefore missing the deadline to get the Nisi through before the summer recess. Therefore, it will be September at the earliest when I will get a court date.
I feel the local solicitor I chose back in October last year has not been active enough in my opinion of prioritising my case. All of the delays could have been minimised if she had followed up and chased the parties concerned in a more timely manner. She works only a three day week and it is virtually impossible at times to get to speak to her.
So please if anyone can offer some ideas on how to switch solicitors at this stage, and moreover, recommend a really good attentive and proactive solicitor in the Greater Belfast area, I'd be really grateful.
