The CSA have a maintenance calculator on their website. It does depend on a range of things, how many kids you have, his income, whether he's employed or self employed or receives benefits, whether you receive benefits etc. If your ex h is a reasonable man it should be a pretty straight forward process. I've been informed that I am entitled to 5% of my ex's income but like I said, it differs for other people. :)

Bella, whoever told you that it's 5% of your ex's income is wrong.

The formula is 15% for one child, 20% for two, and 25% for three or more children.

The CSA, he's on benefits at the moment which is why it's 5%. There's more to my story which has been going on for over a year now but am about to receive my first payment of £10 every fortnight this week YAY!!! hmm Thank you for your comment though :)

£5 a week, you mean, then Bella, not 5%?

Tut, trust me to get it wrong lol. I'm the most analytical person in the world and didn't get that right! 5% does seem pretty pathetic. But yes it's £5 per week, better than nothing I say!

5% could be because he has several kids too different women . His gross % is then split proportunatly between the kids.

I'd guess he has 5 kids and each mother is given 5% per child. ....it's a joke.

No he doesn't have 5 kids (God forbid!), it was my error. But can see where you're coming from.

If your sure he hasnt any other kids, or hasn't moved in with someone who has kids , then you've been told wrong.

Get back in touch and ask them to explain why they are telling you he's to pay 5% .

I think the nrp can claim a discount if they have the kids for a certain amount of overnight stays .

No no, I said 5% instead of £5. I'm actually getting 10% of what he gets in benefits.

Ok , I understand .

When he finds work , remember to phone the csa ,and tell them.

My ex-h never informed them, ever.

He would switch jobs to avoid paying , when they caught up with him.

He was treated to an arrestment of earnings order . They take 25% off him directly from his employer.

His hit back was to stop working in finance ( he is an accountant) and take a job in tescos . It's a pittance I get now , but at least it covers the school lunches.

Seems pathetic that someone would take such a hit in salary in order to invest less in their child's future or upbringing! Really doesn't make sense to me at all.

My ex worked for a dodgy company paying him by cheque (cash in hand) and was/still is a nightmare to find out exactly what his earnings are. Though he's on benefits it wouldn't be surprised if he was still working for this company as it's not on the books. A shame the CSA are lethargic with their investigations towards companies and people who dodge paying taxes. I've run out of breathe trying to get the CSA to follow them up.

It's been 10 months since he's supposedly been out of work and not on benefits up until now. CSA asked him during this time "how do you get by?", his reply was "Any way possible".

Although he's paying something now, it is out of his hands so it's hard for me to give the guy any credit really.

C'est la vie, could be worse :)

Bella, he needs to be spoken to by the lovely people at custom and excise.

Tax evading can get him in a ot of trouble.

My ex is such a spiteful git ....dv , contol freak. This is his big hit a me for leaving him ...even if it means he has no money now and lives with his mum , he thinks it's worth it because I won't get his cash.

Twatty men don't realise ( or don't care) that the money is for their children. It's all warped in their heads or something.

Anyway I will have the last laugh as when he wants to return to finance when our youngest is 16 ( he told me this ) ....no one will employ him.

Oh I understand the consequences of tax evasion. An investigation as small as this (especially for it being an old one now) wouldn't get very far. Unless he was being paid £10k a month or more then will it'll be worth while. I've already looked in to this and the more I do the more I believe karma will do a better job lol.
