Just wondering if anyone has been through assisted conception and might know if we'd be able to get IVF for a 2nd child? I can't believe we are even thinking about it as our DD at 18 mo is a blessing but such a handful at the mo. But we do need to plan as if we want no 2 it's going to take some time. DD was in utero when my DH suffered a spinal cord injury and is now a paraplegic so we can't conceive again naturally. Would the NHS pay for assisted conception for an additional child, or will they only help couples who have no children (which I guess would be fair enough). Be interested to hear from anyone who might have expereince of this.
I believe that it still varies according to the authority that you are under, but certainly here you can't get funding if either partner has had a child.
I'm new to all this, I hope to avoid IVF if I possibly can as there is no prob for me with conception. IUI would prob be the way. I know we just need to get over to see a specialist and take it from there.
Thanks for the info. It's a long way to go for us, so much to think about. Having a 2nd child would change everything again for us, so it's a decision that will take time.
