Hairspray, the mother of all musicals, follows Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, as she sets out to dance her way on to TVs most popular dance show. Can this ordinary girl realise her extraordinary dreams, inspire her mum and still have time to win the boy she loves?
I'm taking my Mum to the RAH on Saturday to see the Masters' Tennis, it's a birthday treat for her so I'd like to take her somewhere nice for lunch beforehand. We have to be at RAH by 1pm so it needs to be somewhere that'll be open early enough.
There is a nice hotel just round the corner, I think on exhibition road called the Gore. Has a beautiful bistro restaurant, covered floor to ceiling in prints and pictures, very nice room and food good too. about 5 mins from the hall. Should be easy to google to get web address, as it is a hotel, I guess it maybe open early enough.
We had to miss the last match to get home to relieve the babysitter. The first match was 1.5hrs and the second just over 1 hour.
It was fun - I am not sure just how seriously they take it (esp the doubles) but it was great entertainment.
Just wish the gits in the boxes would shut up, stop clanking their glasses and sctually watch the tennis! Even the players asked them to be quiet. Last time we went the umpire pulled the boxes up a few times (there is always one or 2 really noisy ones). I can't believe how many boxes looked empty for most of the event but you could see people standing at the back of the box (you can't see much from there) quaffing wine and laughing loudly. You also get a lot of noise from the back from staff clearing up all the crockery as they seem to serve pretty much throughout the whole event.
