There's one at the Royal Festival Hall in December.
Just wondering what to expect before booking tickets. Is there food, drink? Is it large, small, crowded? And would we stay the whole 3 hours?
(DD will be 19 months then)

It costs £5 but I'd imagine only DD would pay and DH and I would get in for free? (Am phoning RFH tomorrow so will get answer for this one from then, but just throwing it in in case anyone knows.)

TIA smile

Oooh, we go to a local kids' disco thing, a grubby little East London one. I'll look into this one. I'd bet everyone has to pay, though.

Weird, it isn't an official 'baby loves disco' one, I don't think - at least, it's not on their website (they charge £9 per walking human shock - our local one is £4 per kid, and £1 per adult).

I haven't been but have talked to people who have and thought it was really good -- their DCs were 3/3 so a bit older than yours, though. I expect you'll all have to pay -- it's aimed more at "parents who would like to go out dancing with their children" than at the children themselves. And it was pretty crowded, apparently.

£15 for me, DH and DD!!
Still no idea whether it;s worth it.

Anyone else tell me whether it's worth parting with so much money for an afternoon's fun?

anyone?

We've been to one at Pacha recently. It was like a big toddler group with music & lights - my 15-month-old couldn't stop laughing at the glitterball, and my 3-year-old ran around a small nutter (no change there, then).

It's good fun, and it makes you realise how many club features are aimed at the, um, "young at heart" to begin with. The standard-issue bubble machines, flashing lights and big bouncy music is pretty kid-friendly.

that sounds great!
are the adults obliged to dance? - DH is dancephobic

Heavens no - he can hang out in the chill-out area (like a baby area at a toddler group, ie lots of playmats & books), or grab one of the tables near the bar, etc etc. Just like a normal club, really, only with free baby rice cakes.

Sounds good - I'm planning to take ds (20mths) to one in my local arts centre soon. I'm also dancephobic, but he'll love the bubbles/lights etc.

Darn - just realised it was yesterday. Will look out for more though, as that sounds good fun.

I've been to something similar called Discobaby. I want to go to Baby:LovesDisco but I've missed it twice. I quite liked the one I went to. It's just good to be in a real club with proper music played on a good sound system, grooving with your kids. Definitely the way forward and I can't see much hope of my getting a good ol' dance any other way.

In fact there are three of these parent and child afternoon clubbing experiences in Brighton at the moment. Hooray!!

I am quite excited! What does one wear?!Should I dig my furry boots and hot pants out?(on second thoughts that would probably scare the children grin)

Furry boots and hotpants a MUST! You will be surrounded by other mums and dads who were probably in the full flush of clubbing 10 years or so ago ... but it seems like yesterday. Hhaaaaaaaaa!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By FeelingLucky on Mon 24-Nov-08 20:24:32
Yes, good question, what did people wear, Sprogger?
Also, what other food/drink did they have for the little ones?

I read about the cash bar on their website, which was my way in to persuading DH to go.
