Hairspray, the mother of all musicals, follows Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, as she sets out to dance her way on to TVs most popular dance show. Can this ordinary girl realise her extraordinary dreams, inspire her mum and still have time to win the boy she loves?
We're going to the Rothko exhib on Sunday at Tate Modern and I'm just trying to vaguely plan ahead somewhere suitable for lunch. There will be 9 adults and 2 children (both mine! 6 months & 2.5yrs). It's a while since I wandered along there and not since I've had children. I know there's wagamama, giraffe etc close to waterloo, just wondered what was nearer Tate Modern. What about the cafes actually in the gallery? Doh, I've just read the website which says it has a fab children-friendly caff.
There's a Wagamama, Pizza express and the Real Greek if you go towards London Bridge too. Most of them are just the other side of The Globe theatre which is about 2 mins from Tate Modern. All of them are family friendly.
There are lots of places to eat along Bankside/South Bank proper. Pizza Express, Eat, Real Greek, several places in Gabriel's Wharf (Gourmet Pizza etc). Don't forget that Borough Market is only a few minutes away and has loads of cafes/restaurants in the area. Monmouth Coffee Co is great for a pitstop (next door to Konditor & Cook <<drool>>)
There's a Nandos, under one of the bridges, too, if that tempts. The cafe at the Tate Modern is theoretically kid-friendly, but I find it a bit grown-up quiet.
mmmmm, konditor and cook, yum. thanks everyone, those are great suggestions, I might just try to book a table at the Tate Cafe if I'm not too late. The thought of 9 adults and 2 whiny children wandering from cafe to cafe trying to find somewhere to eat is giving me the heeby-jeebies! Thanks Miyazaki, I'm guessing by your name that you got the Murakami reference!! I'm quite excited now, I used to live in London and I miss it a lot!
Yes! Wind up bird made my brain melt a bit tho.. I'm not sure if you can book the tate cafe, I know you can't at Giraffe/Wagamama etc. Pizza Express might be the way to go!
