if you don't have it then I think it depends on you tapping into someone else's open connection

Transform an internet enabled PC into a high speed wireless router
doesn't that mean it can be used on a normal connection?

that seems to suggest it is instead of another wireless router.

It says works with any usb or ethernet modem - so does not need to be wireless.

check this out, esp the diagram - so long as your PC is connected (wired) to the internet, then the Key allows the PSP player to wirelessly play on-line via the PC's internet connection. Says it works with any ethernet connected or USB modem - so no you don't need wireless broadband, just broadband - crystal

BTW I am a fella FWIW

I hope so - even though I work with computers I am never sure from the description until I actually get something and have a chance to figure out how it fits together. Things move so quickly it is impossible to keep up with the latest technology.

OK:

Do you have broadband at home? If your main home
PC has broadband (or ADSL) access then this will work. What it does is sets things up so that any other PC or device (such as your PSP) can access the broadband that the main PC has access to - but wirelessly.

It's a way of converting your broadband access into a wireless network - ie your broadband link is accessible by more than just your home pc.

LOL! Yikes indeed.

Good luck. Can you test it out beforehand? Does he ever release his PSP? You'll have to work out the PC side of things (very easy apparently) and then he'll need to know how to attach his PSP to the wireless network. Is he good with that sort of thing?

Let me know if you need any help testing it beforehand. I plan to be face down in large glass of champagne from around 5am on Christmas morning, so possibly won't be any help on the day itself though .
