Hi,
I am sorry that you are struggling so much. Do you have friends or family who could give you a short term loan? I don't know whether you have children or a partner so it is hard to advise without knowing more.
Do you have an overdraft facility with the bank? any broken old bits of gold jewellery you could sell? I don't think emergency tax differs a great deal from regular tax these days so will you be able to manage in the future? are you entitled to any tax credits?

Could a food bank help you?

Depends which emergency tax code you are on - sometimes they use BR which means everything you earn is taxed at 20% (i.e. You get no personal allowance). Sometimes they will put you on 1000L which is what your normal tax code will be. I really hope you're on a BR code, otherwise I wonder how you're going to manage next month...

In terms of this month, can you borrow some money or arrange a temporary overdraft with your bank?

Hello i am single parent although kid stays with ex partner. My tax code was incorrect and i am being reinstated in this months wage. It was over 200 pounds i was taxed incorrectly. I come from a family that dont have much and just get by. I have asked friends but they dont have anything. Thanks for advise and taking the time to get back to me xx

Have you asked your employer about an advance due to the tax code sitauation? They might be able to do say £50 from petty cash to tide you over.

When you say your child stays with your ex, do you mean full time? I just wondered if your ex is paying child support. If you are really desperate does your child have any savings you could borrow for a few days, I know that is a horrible suggestion but needs must and it is only temporary.

Great that will help a little then, I would certainly do that for a colleague no problem, I am sure most of us have had temporary or long term cash flow issues. I think it is great you are making that fresh start and have a new job but you are bound to have a few hiccups as you start your new life, so maybe now is the time to really plan your budget and take a look at if your bills can be reduced, you are getting any tax credits you are entitled to and maybe sell off a few bits and pieces, that money could bee put aside for an emergency fund.
So, you can limp on for a few days before you are paid and look forward to that pay packet.
As this is a new life for you, why not check out the Money saving expert forums? they have great ideas to stretch the grocery budget.
Good luck with everything, this is a blip, not forever!
Best
Grumpy x

I feel rotten as I replied to this thread and promptly forgot about it. I'm so sorry.

I'm at the other end of the country to you, really glad that someone helped you, so sorry it wasn't me. Hope that you're ok.
