My direct debit is £120 p/m and currently £160 in credit.
Moved onto new tariff so there will be a price increase but they want to put my direct debit up to £140 from November even though account is currently in credit?
Anyone else had experience of this where provider wants to increase monthly payments despite holding credit on the account?

I would give them a ring & talk it through with them. You may find they can sort it out over the phone fairly easily. If not, you could always threaten to change supplier, but I suspect they will probably be quite helpful.

When they wanted to increase my dd I told them not to quite firmly. I don't think they can without your permission.

Ask for the credit back, it's your money not theirs.

Thank you. I'll leave the credit on towards the winter payments for now but I will speak to them and ask them to leave the direct debit as it is. £140 is too much.
