Am I the only one to have noticed this? Tescos big Price drop

OK so I shop there regularly, and they obviously put on their Big Price Drop, but to fund it, we only went back to one clubcard point per pound spent, fair enough, and I did notice some items I bought dropped by a couple of pence, BUT, since New Year, some things have crepy back to higher than their original pre big price drop price, so I buy their normal lemonade (not value) was 49p, pre price drop, then 44p, now 60p and their very yummy value mousses, 26p for four before Xmas now 45p, that's a massive increase!!

Has anyone else noticed or is it just me?

Well prices do have to go up eventually! I suppose it's in line with other supermarkets

I've not noticed it because I refuse to shop in Tesco because of their ridiculous pricing antics-I used to work there for a wee while in the department which monitors and actions price changes-they're for no one's benefit but Tesco's.

I shop mainly in Aldi...they don't do BOGOF etc, but their prices are fairly static

I agree Olympia and I have no issue with that, I do have an issue that they roll out this massive price drop and less than six weeks in stuff is higher than before, I think I need to try Aldi as everyone has said it's pretty good and nowhere near as expensive as the other supermarkets.

Loving, if you have one locally, definitely give it a try....I've honestly never bought anything there that the family has objected to-I started off buying basics like pasta, passata etc there, but every week I'd add something new to try, to the point where I'm doing about 90% of my shopping there-and I can be a real food snob!
My only gripe is that mine doesn't sell skimmed milk!

I use their frangrance free value face wipes, they were 28p before Christmas and are now 45p. I went to Lidl yesterday and was impressed. Far less temptation as far less stuff as well.

Yep - I noticed Sainsburys did the same thing by putting up the price of their REALLY cheap items by a couple of pence, so the high profile things were still billed as being good value/price dropped etc.

I have noticed priced go up every new year, the sods. Except Tesco organic eggs, for some reason. They have gone down.

Value baby wipes were 17p about 3 months ago- now 45p
Value shower gel was 10p before Christmas - now 30p
Tesco own baby wipes were 79p last time I bought them - now £1.29

It does seem to be the low priced items that are going up a lot.

I love a bit of lidl, you can get seriously good value meat at the weekend and they sell everything you need bar a few bits here and there - I probably shop 50% lidl and split the rest between Asda, Morrisons and places like B n M etc that has brought my cost down loads! Tesco are sneaky and it seems madness to giv them my add earned cash for substandard food

I usually buy a bit of cooked chicken if me an DS are off - Tesco must be breeding T-rexs from the size of the chicken thighs! All water and jelly - gross!

I've noticed that all the supermarkets I've been in since Christmas have raised their prices on alot of products, except obviously the ones they have on whatever special offer they are running.
I suppose if they run special offers on some stuff, they have to claw it back elsewhere - it is not like they are going to want to take a profit cut.

Tesco made such a big thing about their price drop but I'd say they've not put most things up again in price, way in excess of what they cost before the price drop!

I tend to use a combination of Asda, Aldi, Farmfoods and Lidl these days.

I LOVE Aldi! And I'm one heck of a food snob, but I love it! I find their fruit and veg better quality than Tesco and, of course, cheaper; their muesli is the BEST and my children can't get enough of strawberry crunch cereal... Could go ok! The thing is, they don't fulfil all my shopping needs....

I don't normally notice price changes, I'm far too flaky, but I was shocked when the last bag of potatoes I bought cost £1.12 a couple of weeks ago (and had been that for a good long while) and this week cost £1.34. What happened to the supply of potatoes over the new year for that?

haven't noticed but had heard they do this. i tend to ignore most of the promotions, the bigger it is the more i ignore it.

i tend to go on the rule that you get what you pay for so if the food/product is rediculously cheap then what's actually in there??

I don't shop at any particular supermarket, just go wherever the fancy takes me as I think they're all as bad as each other.

Was in Sainsbury's last week and they had chorizo on offer, £1.50 each or special offer..............wait for it.................2 for £4!

I think Telcos is poor value. They sent me a voucher for £15 off if I spent £75 online. When I started to do the order it was so expensive that even with the money off Lid or Morrison s was much better value.It has nw expired.

We regularly shopped with Tescos for years, with the home delivery thing. I had a light bulb moment about 18 months ago and started shopping at Aldi....bloody brilliant. Agree that you can't get everything there...sort off. I've found the set up off one type of everything makes the shopping trip from start to finish about 45 mins tops and that's including the packing. My savings on average are about £30 a week (flipping huge). If I can't get the odd item I desperately need, like red current jelly then I will use Morrisons. Tescos shot themselves in the foot for us.

i often shop at tesco but im getting increasingly pissed off with them. i stood for ages yeaterday trying to work out which nappy deal was thew best, why dont they just label items as best value? also if im com paring broccoli why is one type price per kilo and a different type price per item. they should just be honest.

It's very hard to compaire prices when some are per kilo, some per item. I always weigh them-I like to KNOW!

Tesco's are shit-their own label stuff is often in bigger packets but a lower weight, so it looks like you're paying less for more when the reverse is true.

Not Tesco but I went to Asda today and there were packs of 4 marshmallow squares 'rolled back' from £1.25 to £1. On the shelf below were packs of 8 that had 'Bigger value pack' in massive letters all over them. Only they cost £3.15

I do get very fucking irritated by that sort of crap, even when it's easy to work out the difference - if you're in a hurry and your kids are verging on a tantrum, it's very easy to just grab the thing that looks cheaper

I've noticed this too. Not a fan of Tesco really but if i have to shop there I will. Even Sainsbury's has been quite a bit cheaper then them since Christmas.

The other thing I noticed before Christmas was in ALL supermarkets, including M & S, they made a big deal of everything being half price but when I compared the price of the products with last year (sad, I know!) the initial price was more than TWO TIMES HIGHER this year.
So after the 'amazing' 50% off it was still a couple of pounds more expensive than last year, so not good value at all!
