But you can't reach it! it's so frustrating, I have a couple of ideas for novels and I have started them in the past but I always come to a dead end. I know my characters and I know what "atmosphere" I want my story to provoke but I don't know exactly what happens! I keep thinking it will just come to me one day but it's so frustrating wanting to write but having nothing TO write.

Anyone else get this?

I've been writing a book for 15 years. I even know what happens! But I just can't get it down.

More a case of doing the hard bit here- actually sitting down and finishing the sodding thing.

It nags at me when I least expect it, so I can't just give up on it. And I've been going at it for three years so far.

Gah.

Oh I know there is. And it's a beauty
I have made a few futile attempts to give birth to it but so far nothing much.... One day. One day!

Problem is, every time I pick it up, I end up rewriting what I have already written and never moving forward. I have about one quarter of it down.

no, I always do too much research into plotting and word counts etc etc. Have one book ready but can't be arsed to actually write it down and do the details - ages , birthdates etc to match up. I did finish one tho!
