Writing group for mums in London?

Is there such a thing?

A group where we could meet during the afternoon and have a coffee, talk about writing, maybe critique each other's work (or maybe not), and take our babies/toddlers with us (I don't have childcare, that's why I can't attend regular writing groups at the moment). It would be lovely to meet other writers in the same situation).

In case there isn't, would anyone be interested in creating one?

We could meet in a cafe, one afternoon every two weeks, and talk about our characters, poems, storylines, finding time to write, submitting stories, etc (well, we would end up talking about baby stuff as well - but not exclusively!).

I'm in NW London, but we could try to accommodate people from other areas as well.

Hi Shroedingers dodo would love to join. Am in outer outer burbs of NW London myself. Not sure how much talking we'd do in a cafe with toddlers (have 2 and 5 year old, 5 year old at school) but we can always try!

Count me in! I live in West London. Great idea.

LadyG and Casseopeia, that's great that you are interested! We may not be able to talk a lot, but any talking will help, I guess (and then we can save any time we have childcare for proper writing!)

Whereabouts are you, exactly? I'm in NW3, near Finchley Road tube station. We can try and find somewhere reasonable for the 3 of us (or more, if more mums are interested )

Am way out in Ruislip but can travel! Confined by working Weds-Friday and school run Mon and Tues though. Could also do West London Maybe we can alternate? The only place that springs immediately to mind accesible to all of us is IKEA-shows how mundane my life has become....

LadyG, I think all of us here have very, very mundane lives! :) The problem with Ikea, despite being child friendly, is that it's not very easy to get there (no tube, so you have to get a shuttle).

I think Baker Street would be reasonably convenient for all of us (do you live near the Metropolitan line tube?), but I don't know any child friendly place in that area.

Casseopeia, are you still around?

Maybe we could arrange our first meeting at the O2 centre by the Finchley Road tube station (there's a cafe there there are always children around, and a Waterstones with a decent children's area). And then we could find a better place for the following meetings.

Any thoughts?

LadyG, I'm available on Tuesdays - unfortunately not the next couple of weeks but we can arrange something after that. What time is it better for you? Mornings or afternoons?
